Sunday, October 12 Afternoon Activities:
Tour of The Byrd Polar Research Center, The Ohio State University, 1090 Carmack Road, Columbus (Tour Times: -maximum 36 people for each tour- 3:00-4:00pm or 4:00-5:00pm.)
Named in honor of one of America’s most famous explorers, the Byrd Polar Research Center (BPRC) is recognized internationally as a leader in polar and alpine research. The Center’s research programs are conducted throughout the world. Each tour will last approximately 1 hour and feature the facilities and research of the Byrd Polar Research Center. Tour will be led by Jason Cervenec, Outreach and Education Coordinator for the Byrd Polar Research Center.

Naturalist Guided Tour-Three Creeks Metro Park (Tour Time: 2:30-4:00pm -maximum 60 people)
Naturalist, Scott Felker, will offer a 90 minute guided interpretive walk through the confluence area of Three Creeks Metro Park, 3860 Bixby Rd. Groveport. Walkers should meet near the bulletin board next to the parking area. The park is approximately 20 minutes from the 4H Center. For information about the park, click here.
Ohio State University’s Solar Decathlon enCore House (Tour time: 3-5pm. Meet at 2:45pm at the 4-H Center parking lot to walk to the EnCore home.)
Energy Stewards Congregational Tour (Tour time: 3:00-5:00pm. Meet at the 4-H Center)
Join The Rev. Craig Foster, PE, OhIPL Technical Consultant, for a bus tour of congregations in Central Ohio who have reduced their energy usage through energy efficiency projects.
“Cultivating a Spiritual Connection with the Earth” will be a quiet meditation led by Jessica K. Shimberg. Jessica currently serves as the spiritual leader of The Little Minyan Kehilla, a central Ohio congregation she helped create in 2006, and is a rabbinic student with ALEPH – the Alliance for Jewish Renewal. Jessica also works part-time as Associate Chaplain for Jewish Life at Ohio Wesleyan University, and loves the dynamic and generosity of interfaith work.
Laughter Yoga (also sometimes referred to as “Laughter Therapy”) (4-H Center) led by Jim Rogers. Laughing Yoga was developed by Indian Dr. Madan Kataria and is now practiced by laughter yoga clubs around the world and in schools, businesses and other venues. It is great for de-stressing and refocusing and carries a variety of health benefits, such as a strengthened immune system. Jim is a certified Laughter Yoga group leader. At the end of the session, Jim will also give you information on an ancient energy practice that empowers your best self!
Exhibits will also be available from 4:30-7:00pm at the 4-H Center.
